Dr. Lucas shares how she treats migraine headaches in her practice. This time, she will discuss migraines caused by deficiency.
As you know, my specialty is pulse diagnosis so it is quite possible that every treatment is different because the patient’s pulses should be different or basically the treatments aren’t working or holding. The sign that your treatment plan is working is a change in the pulses!
Migraines are very often caused by deficiency – the head area (blood vessels etc.) aren’t getting proper oxygen and blood support and that can cause migraine and other headache types. The pulses may feel empty at the upper jiao positions. The Bao Mai or Dai Mai may be blocked which would contribute to the top and bottom of the body not being connected energetically.
Treatment plan in these cases:
A. Your goal is to get oxygen and blood flow up to the head. How to do that? If the pulse positions aren’t connected, which would impede flow, then use some Luo points. Start to feel the organ systems communicate with each other. Can you feel the Kidney pulse flow into the Spleen/Stomach and into the Liver/Gb on the other side? This means that lower and middle jiao are communicating. Then, can you feel Spleen/Stomach flow into Lung/LI and Liver/Gb flow into Heart/SI? Then it means that the upper jiaos are getting energetic support.
B: Your goals is the same, to get oxygen and blood flow to the head but the start of the treatment is different because you can feel that the Dai Mai is blocked and/or the Bao Mai is blocked. Open the Dai Mai (Gb41, SJ5) and Bao Mai (Gb34, Sp21) and then proceed to use other points to open up flow between lower, middle, and upper jiaos.
